Annual Fall Luncheon ~ November 12, 2016
Rose Show & Rose Day ~ June 4-5, 2016
Celebrating 85 Years of Roses
The rains came in May, and rose growers, who planned to exhibit rose at the Kansas City Rose Society Rose Show on June 4 and 5, 2016, were concerned with the rain’s effect on the quality of blooms for the show. In spite of the weather, there were 476 entries from 28 rose growers to at the Garden Center in Loose Park. The exhibitors ranged in age from 5 years to over 80 years. Well, over 500 visitors attended the 2 day event and enjoyed the festivities. This year’s show, “Celebrating 85 Years of Roses,” was dedicated to long time member of the society and rose show exhibitor, Norma Sutherland. The Queen, King, and Princess of the show were ‘Color Magic,’ ‘Randy Scott,’ and ‘Moonstone,’ respectively, all shown by Stan and Linda Horton, Springfield, Missouri.
The sweepstakes winner for specimen blooms and for arrangements was Donna Kitterman with the most blue ribbon, first place entries. |
