The Kansas City Rose Society is thrilled to announce that on July 4, 2018 at the World Federation of Roses Societies (WFRS) Triennial Conference in Copenhagen Denmark, the Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden was one of several gardens to receive the WFRS Award of Garden Excellence.
Since being established in 1995, this award recognizes rose gardens around the world that exude excellence in not only visual beauty, but that possess significance from historical, educational and horticultural perspectives. We are honored to join the ranks of other acclaimed gardens around the world such to receive this recognition.
This video was created as part of our application for the award and showcases the many roles that the garden plays in the Kansas City community: serving as an iconic public space open to all; a gathering place where people come to celebrate and enjoy nature and the arts; and a place for learning, enriching the eyes and minds of those who visit.
Stay tuned for updates on our forthcoming celebration of this exciting award.
