On September 14, 2023, the Kansas City Rose Society, along with Honorary Chairs Erin and Steve Mos and Event Chair Amy Embry, will host our eleventh annual Wine and Roses event.

This elegant garden party helps fund the maintenance and preservation of our beloved garden for generations to come.

The evening will feature a rose-inspired celebration with passed hors d’oeuvres, a wine bar, classical music performed by the UMKC Conservatory Graduate String Quartet, and the beauty of the magnificent Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden---the star of the evening!
$100 / person, or $150 / person for a VIP ticket

As residents of the Kansas City metro, we are incredibly fortunate to live so close to one of the most historic and architecturally significant rose gardens in the United States---and the world! The Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden in Loose Park is a recent recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Excellence by the World Federation of Rose Societies, joining other famous gardens around the world. This designation honors the rose garden’s design, history, community usage, current condition, and outstanding beauty. Founded in 1931 by the Kansas City Rose Society (KCRS) and the KC Parks and Recreation Department, the 1.5 acre circular rose garden designed by S. Herbert Hare of this internationally renowned Kansas City landscape architecture firm Hare and Hare, now contains approximately 3000 roses and 130 varieties.
As members of the KCRS, we take great pride in serving as stewards of the rose garden so that everyone might enjoy one of Kansas City’s loveliest landmarks.  As we celebrate our 90th Anniversary, please consider providing your financial support of the KCRS through a sponsorship or ticket to Wine and Roses 2022.  Your contribution to Wine and Roses helps us provide the following to the community:
  • Annually, maintain approximately 3000 rose bushes and provide replacements
  • Annual “Rose Show”
  • Annual “Rose Day,” with the KC Youth Ballet
  • Free “Jazz in the Roses” community concert
  • Children’s Art and Poetry Events
  • Children’s Education Programs in the rose garden
  • Partnerships with Starlight, the Nelson-Atkins Museum and others
