Founded in 1931, the Kansas City Rose Society has provided all the roses for the Rose Garden in Loose Park while the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department has been responsible for their
ongoing maintenance.
Since 2000, the Rose Society
has raised and spent over $1million on improvements to the Rose
Garden, including a new fountain which was dedicated in 2002.
Other improvements have
included adding steel edging and realigning the beds; improving
irrigation and drainage and stonework repair. The Society's
profile is included in the Greater Kansas City Community
Foundation's Donor Edge program (www.gkccf.org)
